In this new BLOCKJOCKS VIP video Dr. Brandon Winchester performs an ultrasound-guided adductor canal catheter using an in-plane oblique proximal to distal approach. During the procedure Dr. Winchester discusses the role of the nerve to vastus medialis (NVM) in providing analgesia for major knee surgery. More specifically, he points out that independent fascial compartments separate the NVM and saphenous nerves in the mid-thigh. These findings mirror those that were initially presented by Drs. Bendtsen, Moriggl, Chan, & Børglum in their 2016 RAPM article, "The Optimal Analgesic Block for Total Knee Arthroplasty" (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27685346) and were later echoed by Dr. Brianne Owens in her cadaver poster presentation at the 2017 spring ASRA meeting in San Francisco.
